Resumen Académico: Emeritus Researcher at IVIC. During my career at IVIC, I have studied the role of plasma membrane ATPase activities in health and disease. In the last 30 years, we have studied the impact of oxidative stress on the human placenta, particularly in pregnant women with preeclampsia. We have unveiled the molecular role of magnesium sulfate as an antioxidant and plasma membrane stabilizing agent, which is the therapeutic agent most commonly used to try to stabilize preeclamptic pregnant women with severe features.
